Reconstruction Process

Over the years Polymer Sciences has developed and supplied recycled content resins into the automotive industry. In one such program we supplied TPO from post industrial automotive bumper fascias back into a Tier 1 molding facility. Our participation was to organize sufficient supply to maintain required production levels, repelletize the material into plastic pellets and then ship and support the product to the Tier 1 molder. Since the fascia had previously been painted, there was a considerable odor in the molding facility during production molding. We were asked continue management of this type program and to resolve the odor problem.

The Reconstruction Process is a 100% mechanical process whereby all measurable paint is removed from painted plastic materials. This is a three stage process of liberation (liberating the paint from the plastic), separation (100% separation of plastic from paint) and pelletization (repelletizing the plastic for delivery back to the molding facility.
